DVD Dump Pick of the Week:

My Name is Bruce

Synopsis: Something evil is stirring in the small mining town of Gold Lick, and it’s not happy. Guan-di, the Chinese protector of the dead with a strange affinity for bean curd, has been awakened by reckless teenagers, and now his bloody crusade to wipe out the town’s entire population can only be stopped by one man - Bruce Campbell (the guy who starred in all three Evil Dead movies and Bubba Ho-tep), B-move star and deadbeat ex-husband extraordinaire, who’s recruited to be their unwitting savior. Thinking the whole scenario’s a publicity prank, Bruce is distracted from his mission by a hot mom and fan boys aplenty– but when our hero has to face off against a dark force more fearsome than a Hollywood agent, the laughs and screams start flying!

Against the Dark

Synopsis: Katana master Tao (Steven Seagal) leads a special ops squad of ex-military vigilantes on a massacre mission, their target: vampires. On the post apocalyptic globe, sucked dry by bloodthirsty vampires, a few remaining survivors are trapped in an infected hospital. Tao is their only hope and he knows the only cure is execution. Now it’s time for the last stand against the flesh-eating vampires and there’s nothing left to lose but the last of humanity.

Once there, she begins to learn that there may have been more to her father than she believed, and that there may be more for her in life than what she thought she wanted.

Dorothy Mills

Despite the villagers’ resistance, the therapist soon suspects that Dorothy suffers from multiple personality disorder. But when the girl speaks in the voice of the woman’s own deceased son, what first seemed like madness may – as the locals believe – be Dorothy channeling the dead. IMPS

Synopsis: Once Upon a Time in a mythical place called Hollywood, a long, long, long time ago in a galaxy not so very far away, a witty group of actors with 38 EMMY Nominations, 3 Academy Award nominations, and 8 Golden Globe nominations (along with 4 Playmates and a Penthouse Pet) came together in a burst of comic frenzy and created “imps*”. Now, decades in the making, re-edited, re-digitized, re-polished and (ir)re-verently unrated, available for the very first time. Nowhere else can you see the Northern Indiana pencil sharp-off championship, Coming Attractions for “Teenage French Stewardess Nurse… Babysitter”, an exclusive sneak peek at the agonizing new music video by the Marquessa de Sade, and yes, she’s back, the dumbest heroine in Horror film history. Note: No harm was done to the careers of these actors in the filming of this motion picture.

The Lodger

Synopsis: THE LODGER follows a seasoned detective on the trail of a ruthless killer intent on slaughtering prostitutes along West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. It appears that the murderer’s grisly methods are identical to that of London’s infamous 19th century psychopath Jack the Ripper – a relentless serial killer who was never caught by police. To make matters worse, the detective soon notices the parallels between the crimes committed by the West Hollywood stalker and those of a serial murderer incarcerated years ago. Could the wrong man be behind bars?

Red Mist

But when they decide to teach him “a lesson,” he ends up in a coma and practically brain dead. Guilt-ridden Catherine (Kebbel), determined to save his life, administers a powerful and untested cocktail of drugs to the coma victim. Rather than cure him, however, it triggers a powerful “out-of-body” experience and enables Kenneth to temporarily inhabit other people’s bodies and, through them, take revenge on those responsible for his “vegetative” state.

Red Victoria

Synopsis: Struggling writer ends up murdering his undead muse.

Redemption

Synopsis: A genre busting Western where there is no law, no good guys; only the bad and the worse. Frank Hardin (Dustin James) is no stranger to the unlawful west, he is a killer. However, because of a tragic event, he must battle his own worst enemy, Hell couldn’t be much worse.
