DVD Dump New Releases: March 03, 2009
While Spring isn’t exactly the best time for movies at the theater (though I am psyched for Watchmen this week), but it can be a great time for DVDs. Fortunately, this is one of those weeks with top-notch direct-to-DVD movies. There aren’t a lot this week, but there are some real gems here. It was very hard for me to make the pick of the week.
Dead in 3 Days
Synopsis: A clique of teenagers begins to receive life threatening cell-phone messages that warn “In three days you’re dead” and they soon begin to die at the hands of a shrouded killer. One girl in the group is the only one who discovers a mysterious clue leading to the assailant’s identity, but as the body count rises and the slayings become more and more vicious, no-one outside of her group wants to believe her and time is running out…
Exit Speed
Synopsis: On Christmas Eve, ten passengers board a bus traveling across Texas. Far out in the wilds they collide with a meth-addicted biker. Forced off the road by other members of the gang, the passengers take refuge in the hell hole of an abandoned scrap yard. They use improvised weapons and sheer guts to mount a defense against the murderous bikers but, as their numbers dwindle, they realize that their survival depends on doing the unthinkable. They must go on the offensive.
Gone the Way of Flesh
Synopsis: The story of a mysterious killer with a blood-lust for rock n roll groupies. A local town is outraged as underage female fans start turning up in pieces after live performances by The Jason Martinko Revue. It is up to one detective to rid his city of this traveling roadshow of filth, as he struggles to overcome numerous addictions. So if you like nudity, drugs, violence, filth & rock ‘n roll, you won’t want to miss GONE THE WAY OF FLESH!
DVD Dump Pick of the Week:
In the Electric Mist
Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones leads an all-star cast in this psychological thriller based on the bestselling novel by James Lee Burke. Lake City (2008)
Synopsis: When a young man gets into trouble with a local drug dealer, he hits the road running with a young companion and heads to the last place on earth he wants to go - his childhood home. Lake City is a searing Southern drama about a mother and son who reunite under desperate circumstances years after a family tragedy drove them apart. Once together, they are forced to sort out their past and escape a dangerous situation in the present.
Real Time
Synopsis: Randy Quaid (Brokeback Mountain, Kingpin) and Jay Baruchel (Tropic Thunder, Knocked Up) deliver dead-on performances in this gripping thriller about a hit man who gives a down-and-out compulsive gambler just one last hour to live. Clever and fast-paced, this festival favorite will keep you guessing until its shocking conclusion that will stay with you long after it’s over.
Stiletto
Synopsis: Raina, a seductive yet incredibly dangerous woman, was once madly in love with crime boss Virgil Vadalos (Tom Berenger, Training Day, The Big Chill), but their relationship met a violent end after she discovered that he was associated with her sister’s disappearance. Now armed with only a knife and relentless anger, she is determined to avenge her sister by murdering everyone in Virgil’s crime ring. The Village Barbershop
Synopsis: Art Leroldi is terminal. Terminally irritable, that is. Weapons (2007)

Wonder Woman, The Animated Movie
